Translation and interpreting for organisations that work across borders by mission.

Governing meetings, conferences, field missions, donor reports and online sessions — in the languages of the people you serve and the people who fund you.

Straight answer

STIB provides interpreters and translators for NGOs, foundations, development agencies and international organisations: simultaneous and consecutive interpreting for board and governing meetings, conferences and webinars; interpreters for field missions and site visits; and translation of reports, grant documents, policies and training material. Remote interpreting and translation are delivered worldwide; interpreters travel to other countries on request, subject to availability. Portuguese, English and Spanish are the core languages, with more than 40 languages across the network.

STIB was founded in São Paulo in 2007 and has delivered more than 2,500 assignments. Portuguese is home ground — a fit for programmes in Brazil and in the Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa and Asia — and the network of over 80 certified interpreters covers the other languages your programme needs. Terminology for climate, health, human rights, education, agriculture or finance is agreed with you before the work starts.

How it works

A proposal that fits the way you buy

1. Send the terms of reference

Dates, countries or platform, languages, the format of each session and the documents involved.

2. Itemised proposal

Interpreting, equipment, travel and translation listed separately, ready for a budget line or procurement file.

3. Preparation under NDA

Background papers, glossaries and participant lists go to the linguists in advance; everything is handled confidentially.

4. Delivery

Interpreters on-site or online, and translations reviewed by a second linguist before they reach you.

Questions NGOs and international organisations ask us

Does STIB work with NGOs and international organisations outside Brazil?

Yes. Remote interpreting and document translation are delivered worldwide, and interpreters travel to meetings, conferences and field missions in other countries on request, subject to availability. STIB is headquartered in São Paulo and has interpreters and equipment on the ground in Brazil and the United States.

What can STIB translate for an NGO?

Annual and impact reports, grant proposals and donor reporting, policies and codes of conduct, training material, research and evaluation reports, press releases and website content. Each document is translated by a linguist who knows the subject and reviewed by a second linguist.

Which languages are available?

Portuguese, English and Spanish are STIB's core languages, and its network covers more than 40 languages with over 80 certified interpreters, including French, Arabic and Chinese. Portuguese makes STIB a natural fit for work involving Brazil and the Portuguese-speaking countries of Africa and Asia.

Can the proposal fit a grant budget or procurement process?

Every assignment is quoted from its scope, with interpreting, equipment, travel and translation listed separately, so the proposal can be dropped into a budget line or a procurement file. Send the terms of reference with the request.
